dc.description.abstract | [EN] In recent years, researchers and institutions have been showing an increasing concern about the use of Internet and new technologies among teenagers. Its impact on the psychological and behavioral level often results in the development of addictive and risky behaviours (cyber bullying or sexting, for instance) such as physical inactivity, social isolation, school failure and frequent family conflicts. Moreover, the so-called phenomenon of Globalization makes it impossible to circumscribe problematic Internet use, the Whatsapp or social networks to specific socio-demographic strata, since it has undoubtedly become a widespread phenomenon, which already affects more than 20% of teenagers. Due to the great interest that the subject awakens at different levels, a considerable amount of work dealing with this topic has been published in recent years. A careful review on these researches permits not only the integration of a wide variety of available data, but also enables a better understanding of the issue and its possible constraints. The literature review conducted has also allowed us to identify some of the major controversies or disputes that nowadays focus its research in this field, and identify some relevant challenges for the future. |
