dc.description.abstractThe work reported in this thesis, has been oriented to the design of multifunctional nanocapsules for the administration of antitumoral drugs. These systems are based on the use of hyaluronic acid or modified hyaluronic. These materials provide nanocapsules with specific affinity for cancer cells through specific cancer cell receptors, respectively. The physico-chemical characterization showed these prototypes present favourable properties for the administration of antitumoral drugs. Additionally, the study of in vivo fate in a cancer animal model showed a marked increase of drug accumulation in tumour tissue, especially for ligand modified nanocapsules, which have achieved also an improvement in therapeutic efficacy.
